There are certain moments while traveling, from a photographer’s standpoint, when everything falls into place.
The light is right. The details pop, and time slows down just enough for you to notice where you are.
This photo was taken during one of those afternoons at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como.
I was wandering the grounds with friends when I noticed a tennis player on the clay court below. The lake stretched wide and blue behind him, mountains rising softly in the distance.
I stopped for a minute. Just long enough to watch the rhythm of the game and wait for the ball to lift into the air.
The orange clay against the deep blue water caught my eye immediately. The sharp movement of the game against the stillness of the lake felt almost cinematic.
Game. Set. Match.
There was something unmistakably European about it. Leisure, but structured. Elegant, but effortless. The kind of afternoon that makes you slow down without realizing it.
What I love most is that this moment wasn’t planned. I didn’t search for it. I simply turned a corner, and there it was.
A reminder that beautiful things are often waiting quietly around the corner.
