My Trip to Albuquerque. Here’s What Was Actually Worth It.
I was in Albuquerque for about a day and a half, which, in hindsight, was not enough. This is a solid 2–3 day city.
We had a full list. We did not complete the list (you can see the full list in the previous article here).
Here’s what actually made the cut (and what I’d tell you to prioritize).
First, a quick note: multiple people told me Albuquerque was dangerous. I didn’t feel that way at all. Granted, I was there briefly, but coming from LA, nothing felt particularly jarring. People were friendly, helpful, and very willing to chat.
Now, without further ado, the hits.
Zendo Coffee
Best coffee stop of the entire New Mexico trip. The flavors were different and unique, but still balanced. Not gimmicky. Just good.
Old Town Albuquerque
This was more fun than expected. Every shop felt a little different, and everyone wanted to talk about their store, the history, the city. Great if you’re even mildly extroverted.
Los Poblanos
This is a must. We went for dinner, (which is a 2 Michelin star), but showed up early to walk the grounds and look around the farm shop. The whole place feels very curated. The farm to table lifestyle but you get to see the greenhouse, and the lavender fields and the soap they make. It’s giving Flamingo Estate, but New Mexico.
I could talk about this place all day, but the food was incredible. It is on the pricey side, so if you want to go just to walk around and shop the store, feel free!
Sawmill Market
Easy, low-effort win. Lots of food options, good energy, nice place to reset in between doing things.
Sandia Peak Tramway
Very worth it. The views at the top are misleading from what you see when driving around the city.
Everything else we did was good, but these were the standouts.
If I had more time, I would’ve added another day just to not rush it.
Anyways, I could talk your ear off with how amazing the coloring is and how it doesn’t feel like you are in the U.S. (but that’s for another article). If you go to ABQ, grab a coffee at Zendo for me!
