NYC, No Agenda

This will be my fourth time in New York, which means I’m officially done pretending I need to “see everything.”

No packed itinerary. No Google doc. No 47 saved restaurants I’ll never get to.

This trip was solely booked for the purpose of seeing our friends in Chicago, the musical. The rest of the time has been designated for walking, shopping, and eating. That’s it.

Staying at PUBLIC Hotel
Still my favorite. It’s easy, it’s central, and it has everything I need without me having to think too hard about it. Rooftop, workout classes, good energy. Locked in.

Food (light planning, strong opinions):

  • Nowon
I went last year and I’m still thinking about it, which feels like enough of a reason to go back. The whipped yuzu ricotta toast and chopped cheese rice cakes are non-negotiable.

  • L’Industrie Pizzeria
    Pizza. That’s the plan.

  • Tiny’s & The Bar Upstairs
Feels like the kind of place you end up staying longer than intended. Which is exactly what I want.

The rest I’m leaving open. The list could go on and on, but who knows what part of town we’ll be in when we’re hungry. So leaving it up to the Pizza Gods.

The only actual plans:

  • Seeing Chicago

  • Walking through SoHo and the Lower East Side

  • Maybe ending up at Chelsea Market if we need a reset

It is such a blessing to be able to visit a city more than once. You’re no longer rushing to hit all the major sights but rather just living in the city for a short period of time. You get to know what you like, repeating the good parts, and let the rest fill itself in.

I’ll report back on what actually happens. Which, based on past experience, will probably be different than this anyway.
