L&L Archives: Sydney, Day 4
Then
Day four in Sydney started off rainy, so I leaned into it and went to the gym for an hour-long yoga class, followed by the sauna. By the time I finished, the weather looked promising, so I went home to quickly change, only to step back outside and realize it was absolutely pouring again.
I pivoted and headed to The Tea Cosy in The Rocks for tea and scones. The place was incredibly cute, and I ended up meeting a lovely trio from Los Angeles, which felt comforting in a very small-world way.
Eventually, the rain let up, and I walked around The Rocks, popping into art galleries and shops and letting the afternoon unfold slowly. I tried to make a reservation for one at Café Sydney, but they were fully committed to not letting me in. I now have a very minor personal vendetta against them. Kidding. Mostly.
Around 5:30, I headed back to Chinatown for the night market, where they were selling food, jewelry, and toys. One block over was Paddy’s Market, which sells everything from clothes and food to massages and BDSM gear. Truly something for everyone.
For dinner, I started at Monopoly for light bites, specifically chicken liver, which I loved and fully understand why others would not. Then I went to Sushi E for a roll and some sashimi. When I stepped back outside, it started raining again, so I ducked into The Lobo, a Caribbean bar, for drinks.
And that was day four in Sydney.
Now
It’s strange retyping this out, because all the feelings come back so clearly. Looking at it on paper, the day sounds scattered, but that’s not what stayed with me.
It wasn’t about where I went or how much I did. It was about how the day felt. And somehow, that’s always the part that lasts.
